WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Emerald Ash Borer has not been found in Watertown yet, but the city is already mapping out a plan to deal with the insect that destroys ash trees.

City Forester Jon Livermore tells KWAT News that areas of southeast South Dakota are infested with the bug now…….

Livermore says to get ahead of the game, ash trees on city-owned land in Watertown will be cut down….

The emerald ash borer has already destroyed 40 million ash trees in Michigan alone, and Livermore says it’s not a question of if, but when, it shows up in Watertown and more locations across South Dakota.
