NEW: North Dakota Highway Patrol says crop dusting pilot killed in crash

STRASBURG, N.D.–The North Dakota State Patrol says a crop dusting  pilot was killed this (Tuesday) morning when his plane crashed after it struck a high voltage power line near the town of Strasburg.

The State Patrol says the accident happened about 7:40 this morning. The Patrol says the plane hit a Western Area Power Administration transmission line, and the line was severed. The impact caused damage to the aircraft, and it crashed in a nearby field.

The pilot’s name has not yet been released.

The Patrol, the FAA and the Emmons County Sheriff’s office are investigating.

Strasburg is located in south central North Dakota, about 20 miles north of Herreid, South Dakota.
