MADISON, Minn.— A house fire in western Minnesota has claimed one life and injured a second person.

 

The Lac Qui Parle County Sheriff’s Office says fire and ambulance personnel were dispatched to a house fire at 612 5th Avenue in Madison just before 11 o’clock Wednesday morning.

 

One adult female was taken to the Madison Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. One adult male was found dead at the scene.

 

Fire departments from Madison, Dawson and Bellingham fought the fire, which remains under investigation by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Lac Qui Parle County Sheriff’s Office.

 

The name of the deceased is not being released, pending notification of family members.
