NEW: Jackley talks with KWAT News about Moody County officer’s death (Audio)

FLANDREAU, S.D.–We’re learning more details about the circumstances that led to the death of a Moody County Deputy Sheriff on Friday.

Fifty one year-old Ken Prorok of Wentworth was killed during a police pursuit of 40 year-old Joseph Hoek of Sioux Falls.

Hoek has been charged with Premeditated First Degree Murder and Aggravated Eluding, and is being held without bond.

His next court hearing is Friday morning at 11:00 a.m.

South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley (pictured) is prosecuting the case. He spoke with KWAT News Director Mike Tanner about what happened Friday afternoon that led to Prorok’s death, and whether he’ll seek the death penalty in this case.
