NEW: Highway Patrol identifies those involved in deadly crash just west of Watertown

WATERTOWN, S.D.—The South Dakota Highway Patrol has released the name of a man killed in a head-on crash just west of Watertown last week.

Fifty six year-old Ronald Olson of Waubay died when the SUV he was driving was struck head-on by a vehicle driven by 17 year-old Kaden Larsen of Watertown.

Olson’s wife, 54 year-old Renee Olson of Waubay, sustained life-threatening injuries and is hospitalized in Sioux Falls, as is Larsen, who also sustained serious injuries.

The patrol says it appears Larsen’s westbound Toyota Highlander crossed the centerline, striking Olson’s GMC Yukon.

The crash was reported just before 5:30 Thursday afternoon, a half mile west of Watertown on South Dakota Highway 20.
