NEW: Car versus scooter crash in Watertown leaves one person with serious injuries

WATERTOWN, S.D.–The driver of a motorized scooter was seriously injured Monday night after being hit by a car in Watertown.
Police Sergeant Ryan Beauchamp says it happened around 10:30 at the intersection of Highway 81 and Arrow Avenue.
The car, driven by 43 year-old Evan Witt of Watertown, was southbound on Highway 81, and the scooter, driven by 21 year-old Isabel Hatch of Watertown, was northbound.
The car attempted to make a left hand turn onto Arrow Avenue and struck the scooter.
Hatch was taken by ambulance to Prairie Lakes Hospital.
Witt was cited for Failure to Yield.
A news release from Watertown police did not indicate whether Hatch was wearing a helmet.
