WATERTOWN, S.D.—A high school football player from Britton is hospitalized after sustaining a severe head injury during a game in Warner Friday night.

According to his Caring Bridge page created over the weekend, junior quarterback Trevor Zuehlke was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen, and then airlifted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, where a CT scan showed bleeding on his brain.

The CT scan did not indicate any injuries to his neck or spine.

He’s currently in a medically-induced coma to allow his brain to begin healing, and the swelling to go down.

The Caring Bridge page indicates he is on a ventilator, but breathing mostly on his own.

A prayer service was held on behalf of Trevor last night at First Lutheran Church in Britton.
