WATERTOWN, S.D.— There was a limited amount of discussion, but no action taken, on a proposed new two-sheet ice arena in Watertown at Monday night’s city council meeting.

Councilman Adam Lalim is on the Ice Rink Study Committee, and gave an update at the request of Mayor Sarah Caron…..

Last week, Mayor Caron announced the preferred site for the ice arena is on six acres on the west edge of downtown Watertown, near where the former Metz Bakery building is located.

She says there are concerns about that location though….

A 1,400 seat ice arena could cost in the neighborhood of $15 million.

The city has about $3 million in leftover bonding money that can be used for the project.
