WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown City Council has approved a land exchange with an Oklahoma development company that will remove one hurdle as construction of a new Street Department headquarters moves forward.
City Manager Amanda Mack the the land in question is along Highway 20….
There are additional stipulations spelled out in the land swap…
Mack says the council also made a move yesterday to get design work started on that stand-alone Street Department building on Highway 20…..
The city had been exploring the idea of building a new City Hall on Highway 20, adjacent to the Street Department headquarters, but those talks have cooled amid a strong call from the public to keep City Hall somewhere in the downtown area.
