Montevideo woman pleads guilty to drug overdose death of her cousin

MONTEVIDEO, Minn.–A Montevideo woman has pleaded guilty to 3rd-degree murder in the overdose death of her cousin, 23-year-old Alexis Labatte, of Renville.
Twenty one year-old Deja Padilla admitted to selling her the fentanyl that ultimately killed Labatte in November of 2021.
Police say they also responded to another overdose at almost the same time where Padilla sold a victim heroin.
The victim survived but police believed the drugs sold by Padilla had an extremely high potency.
