Minnesota reports region’s first case of Covid-19 coronavirus
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – Minnesota health officials say the state has its first confirmed case of coronavirus.
The case is an an older adult from Ramsey County who recently traveled on a cruise ship that carried another person with a known case. The Minnesotan sought health care Thursday. The state got a positive test result Friday.
Officials say the person is now isolated and recovering at home. They’re working to identify anyone who came in contact with the person.
Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm says it’s “cause for concern but not panic.” Gov. Tim Walz says he’s confident that Minnesota is prepared.
