OSLO, Minn.—Members of the Minnesota National Guard are on hand in Marshall County as the community of Oslo deals with the rising levels of the Red River.

Mayor Erika Martens says with roads in and out of town inundated the town has once again become an island.

Martens says National Guard soldiers will be assisting with the monitoring of levees around the town. She says the work they pick up goes a long way in creating a sense of security.

Martens says in this year’s flood battle the term security takes on an additional meaning…

Martens says normally the flood waters draw back and roads can reopen about two weeks after the river crest. Forecasters say a second crest could be seen on Sunday.
