February 12, 2024

ST. PAUL, Minn.–Minnesotans could see some relief from their medical debt thanks to a new bill being considered in the upcoming legislative session that begins today (Monday).

The “Minnesota Debt Fairness Bill” would ban the withholding of medical services due to unpaid debt, and stop medical debt from being reported to credit bureaus.

Attorney General Keith Ellison said every Minnesotan should have access to the care they need without worrying about going bankrupt.
