WATERTOWN, S.D.–The construction bid for next summer’s work on phase two of the Highway 212 re-build in Watertown was awarded today (Thursday).

The South Dakota Department of Transportation awarded the work to J & J Earthworks, Inc. of Milbank for a little more than $11.9 million.

Next summer, J & J employees will tear up Highway 212 between Highway 81 and 19th Street. They’ll pour a new concrete pad, and also put in new sidewalks, lighting and signals.

J & J submitted the low bid from among three contractors.

The project will begin next spring, as soon as weather permits.
