MBB: Jacks use second half surge to power past Denver


DENVER , C.O. (GoWatertown.net) — South Dakota State used a massive 23-2 run midway through the second half to take a dominant lead over Denver enroute to an 84-61 victory

Douglas Wilson led the way in scoring as four Jackrabbits finished in double figures. Wilson scored 18 points, grabbed two steals and was the only player to attempt a free throw for SDSU, going 4-of-5 from the line.

Matt Mims added in a career-high 15 points while shooting 5-of-7 from behind the arc. Finally, Baylor Scheierman and Alex Arians tossed in 11 points each as Scheierman dished out a career-high nine assists and had two blocks.

SDSU returns home for a three-game homestand, starting with doubleheader action against Omaha on Saturday. Tip-off for the Pork Classic is scheduled for 4:15 p.m in Frost Arena.
