RAPID CITY, S.D.–A 31 year-old man driving a motorcycle was killed early Monday morning in a crash on Interstate 90 within the city limits of Rapid City.

The Highway Patrol says the cycle was westbound on I-90, failed to negotiate a left turn, and the driver was thrown off the bike.

A semi truck that was trailing behind could not stop in time, and ran over the motorcycle driver.

The motorcycle driver was dead at the scene. The two occupants of the semi were not injured.

Names have not been released.

Both westbound lanes of Interstate 90 from mile marker 59 to mile marker 60 were closed for about five hours.
