Man killed in crash with semi in Bennett County

MARTIN, S.D. — One person died Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash 13 miles west of Martin, South Dakota.

Names of the two persons involved are not yet being released pending notification of family members.

The Highway Patrol says preliminary information indicates that a car was westbound on U.S. Highway 18 when it crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound semi truck.

The 69-year-old male driver of the car was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the wreckage. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 56-year-old truck driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.
