Man dies when controlled burn in Sioux Falls gets out of control

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—A man who was injured when a fire got out control in Minnehaha County has died from his injuries.
Seventy-four-year-old Michael Schuldt died Sunday, according to Capt. Josh Phillips with the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say the incident took place Sunday afternoon outside a residence on Sand Street near Ellis Road on the western edge of Sioux Falls. A controlled burn at a fire pit got out of control, and Schuldt called 911.
Schuldt was seriously burned attempting to stop the fire.
Emergency responders took him to a Sioux Falls hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
