UPDATE
WATERTOWN (GoWatertown.net) — Funeral services have been set for longtime Watertown Athletic Director Harvy Hammrich who died June 14th at Prairie Lakes Healthcare at the age of 86.

Funeral mass will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, June 21st at the Holy Name of Jesus Church with visitation held Sunday, June 20th from 5 till 8 p.m. at the church.  Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Watertown.

Hammrich had a 43-year career as an athletic director and coach at Ipswich, Webster, and led the Watertown Athletic Department for 26 years from 1977 to 2003.

He was inducted into the Watertown High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011, a program he started in 1997. South Dakota High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame honored him in their 1994 Hall of Fame class. The South Dakota Interscholastic Administrators Association named Hammrich Athletic Director of the Year in 1983 and 2002. He was also named the Athletic Director of the Year by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association in 1997.

Services are with Wight and Comes Funeral Chapel of Watertown.
