Local athletes compete at Senior Showcase

PIERRE, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — The 2020 South Dakota Senior Showcase was held June 1st at Hillsview Golf Club in Pierre.

In AA Girls, Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Carly Kunkel and Sophie Jansa tied for first place with an 80.  Kunkel and Jansa would also take home the Overall Girls Championship.  Watertown’s Megan Dockter took home fifth place with an 85.

Lauryn Driscoll of West Central and Lauren Tims of Sioux Falls Christian each tied for first place in the A Girls, shooting an 84.

The B Girls title would go to Josie Rush of Philip High school, shooting an 83. Sophie Johnson of Estelline/Hendricks took home third place with a 92.  Castlewood’s Layce Kooima shot a 107, good for sixth place.

In the B Boys, Austin Boomsma of James Valley Christian would take the title shooting a 74. Deubrook Area’s  Luke Urevig placed third with an 84 and Carter Ekern seventh with a 93 .  Estelline’s Spencer Lutz shot a 96, good for a ninth-place tie.

The 2020 South Dakota Senior Showcase was conducted by the South Dakota Golf Association.
