Leaders of Watertown Salvation Army announce departure

June 7, 2021

WATERTOWN, S.D.–The leaders of Watertown’s Salvation Army are leaving the community, and a community farewell has been scheduled for them this coming weekend.

Lieutenant Zachary Zumwalt and Captain Karissa Zumwalt are leaving Watertown at the end of June as they take up a new appointment in Sioux City, Iowa.

They have served in Watertown since June of 2017.

The Zumwalts have considered serving in Watertown as one of their greatest privileges in life. It has become home for them. The thing they will miss the most about Watertown is the people. Capt. Karissa said, “Such beautiful, caring, hardworking people.”

There will be a drop-in Community Farewell on Sunday June 13th. Stop by The Salvation Army anytime between 2pm-4pm to wish the Zumwalts a fine farewell! All are welcome!
