Law enforcement officer killed in South Dakota’s Moody County

PIERRE, S.D.–South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley has confirmed that a South Dakota law enforcement officer was killed in the line of duty Friday afternoon stemming from a vehicle pursuit in Moody County.

The name of the deceased officer, their law enforcement agency, how they were killed and exactly where the death occurred have not yet been released.

“Our hearts go out to the officer’s family and all those serving in the officer’s department,” said Attorney General Jackley. “The State Division of Criminal Investigation, Highway Patrol, and local law enforcement agencies are cooperating to provide a complete and thorough investigation. One person has been arrested in connection with the incident.”

Jackley said there is no immediate threat to the public stemming from this incident.
