Lakers boys split weekend, girls go 2-2 at CAN-AM Youth Challenge Cup

WATERTOWN, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — Watertown Laker boys hockey would split their weekend of games being shutout at Brookings Friday 8-0 but defeating Sioux Center on Saturday 4-1.

After a scoreless first period on Friday, the Rangers were too much scoring five in the second and three in the third.  Brookings had 46 shots on goal compared to Watertown’s 11.

A hat trick by Austin Green on Saturday would led the Lakers.  Green netted three goals and one assist.  Mason Witt added one goal and two assists.  Owen McBride stopped 23 of 24 shots on goal.

The Laker Girls competed at the CAN-AM Youth Challenge Cup in Madison, Wisconsin Friday, Saturday and Sunday going 2-2.

Watertown would send Yankton packing on Friday 2-0.  Jaclyn Lloyd and Jillian Busch would score each of the Laker goals.  The yellow and black would fall to the Chicago Hawks 3-1 in game one of Saturday. Busch scored the lone Watertown goal.  The Lakers would fall to the Omaha Lady Lancers 3-1 in game two of Saturday.  Jaclyn Lloyd scored the single goal for Watertown.  The Lakers would wrap up their weekend with a 5-3 win against Yankton on Sunday.  Jaclyn Lloyd with the hat trick.  Meg Sunde and Janell Lloyd each added goals.

The Watertown girls and boys will come home for two games next weekend against Rushmore.  Jeff Anderson will have coverage of those games on 1480 KSDR.
