Lakers begin their season at home

WATERTOWN, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — The Watertown Lakers began their season Saturday night with a 10-0 shutout of the Mitchell Marlins.
Austin Green would lead the charge with two goals and four assists, Trey Allard contributed two goals and two assists, Max Evans and Blair Boomsma each put through two goals, Ethan Beebe and Logan Austad each had one goal and one assist. In net Owen McBride stopped 23 or 23 shots on goal. Watertown would outshoot Mitchell 29 to 23. Watertown (1-0) will come back home to play Oahe on Saturday, December 5th with an 8 p.m. puck drop. The Laker Ladies would begin their season with two home losses. 9-4 to Mitchell on Saturday and 5-1 versus Sioux Center on Sunday.
Janel Lloyd would lead the charge against Mitchell with two goals, Jalyn Reihe and Sophie Krueger would each tally one goal. Angelyn Birnell would stop 19 of 28 shots on goal. On Sunday the lone Laker goal would go to Sophie Krueger. Birnell would stop 22 of 27 shots on goal. Watertown (0-2) travel to Aberdeen on Friday for an 8 p.m. start and Huron, Sunday for a 2 p.m. puck drop.
