KWAT’s Outdoor Report for week of April 25, 2022

Aberdeen Area
Fishing Report
Elm Lake: The boat dock by Elm Lake Resort has been put back into the lake. The south boat access is still closed because of work on the dam. Fishing has been slow due to poor weather conditions.
Elm River: Anglers have been catching walleye by some of the dams. There is decent waterflow this spring.
James River: Fishing has been slow so far this spring. The river has good waterflow and there should be a decent walleye run this spring.
Mina lake: The boat docks have been put back into the lake. Poor weather has slowed fishing down.
Richmond lake: The boat docks have been put back into the lake. The fishing pier by the east boat ramp is also ready for use. Fishing has been slow due to poor weather conditions.

Hunting Report:
Light Goose: Most of the snow geese have migrated into North Dakota. There are still a few small flocks moving through the area.
Turkey: No activity.

Clark County
Fishing Report
Dry 1: No boat activity. A few anglers are catching smaller walleye of Road Grade. Do not park on roadway.
Dry 2: Very little activity this past week. A few pike are being caught from shore. Walleye bite has been slow.
Indian Springs: No boat activity. Shore anglers are having a little success but seem focused on the last couple hours in the evening. Dock is not in. Black Claw is hoping Friday.
Reid: No activity.
Swan: Boat ramp is buckled. Crews are waiting for water temps to warm up before going in to fix it.

Hunting Report
Light Goose: No activity.
Turkey: No activity.

Codington County
Fishing Report
Blythe Slough: A few fishermen have been giving it a go with no luck.
Dry Lake: Fishing pressure has slowed down.
Goose: Fishermen are giving it a shot with little to no success.
Kampeska: Fishermen are catching a few northern pike and walleye from shore.
Long Lake: Little shore fishing pressure with anglers reporting no success. Boat fishermen have been fishing here consistently but unsure of their success.
Pelican Lake: Little to no fishing pressure.
Punished Woman’s Lake: The boat ramp is buckled and unusable.

Hunting Report
Light Goose: No report.
Turkey: Turkeys are spreading out and hunters are having some success.
Day County
Bitter: Some shore fishermen have been having success. Docks are in.
Bluedog: Seeing some shore fishing pressure. Docks are in.
Rush: The culverts have been busy with anglers shore fishing. Docks are in.
Enemy Swim: Little activity.
Pickerel: Little activity.
Waubay: Little activity. Kangao dock is in.

Hunting Report
Light Goose: No report.
Turkey: Turkeys are becoming more responsive to calls and hunters continue to have success.

Hamlin County
Fishing Report
Clear Lake: Little activity. A few smaller walleyes are being caught.
Lake Albert: Some northern pike are being caught from the north end of the lake.
Lake Poinsett: Anglers are picking up a few northern pike. Anglers are also catching a few walleye up by shore during the evening hours. Success has increased with the warmer temperatures.
Three Buck: A few walleye are being caught as the temperatures have warmed up.

Hunting Report
Light Goose: There are still a few snow geese hanging around the county. Pockets of birds are concentrated along the western edge of the county. Hunters who are out, are having success hunting groups of juvenile snow geese.
Turkey: Turkey hunters are having some success. Warmer temperatures have gotten birds spread out. Birds are starting to strut more and are becoming more responsive to calls.

Marshall County
Fishing Report
No activity. Ice conditions have deteriorated.

Area creeks, streams and rivers are running. Northern pike are running, providing good spearing opportunities.

Hunting Report:
Light Goose: There are still a few birds in the county, but the big push has moved through. Very few hunters are out.
Turkey: Turkey hunters are doing extremely well.

Parks Report
Hartford Beach State Park: The comfort station and dump station in the East Campground are open.
