WATERTOWN, S.D.–A little over two years ago, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem launched a campaign to tackle the problem of meth addiction in the state.
She was mocked and criticized for the campaign’s theme, “Meth, we’re on it.”
Noem says the campaign got national attention, and not all of it was positive.
But in the end, she tells KWAT News Director Mike Tanner it was “mission accomplished,” because it got people talking about the problem, and trying to fix it…..
Governor Noem says although people made fun of it, the end goal was reached…
Governor Noem said in her State of the State speech this week that the fight against meth, fentanyl and other drugs is not over.
She says the state will continue to raise awareness about available resources, with the ultimate goal of saving lives.
