WATERTOWN, S.D.–The cost of building a new two-sheet ice arena in Watertown is getting more expensive.

Work on the project hasn’t started yet, but city officials are getting a better idea on the pricetag.

City Manager Amanda Mack gave KWAT News an update today…

Mack says the price keeps going up due to the cost of building materials, and not because of “add ons” to the arena….

Mack says the Watertown City Council will hold a special meeting next week to consider borrowing another $10 million to pay for arena construction….

Mack says a naming rights agreement for the arena has been reached, and that deal, along with others naming rights announcements will be made public next week.

A public meeting with be held at 5:30 this Thursday in the city council chambers to talk about the latest arena developments.
