Jung named finalist for Coach of the Year

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (News Release) — The National High School Athletic Coaches Association has named the 2020 NHSACA Coach of the Year Finalists from South Dakota. To be considered for this award a nominee has been determined to have outstanding coaching longevity and win-loss record, championship years, awards received and service to the coaching profession and to the athletes of the State of South Dakota.
As a finalist everyone will be honored at the National Awards Banquet to be held at the NHSACA 55th Annual Conference in Lincoln, NE on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 5:00 PM in the Great Hall-Old Train Station-Haymarket District. This annual event is attended by athletic directors and coaches in 19 sports from throughout the United States.
The 2020 Coach of the Year finalists from South Dakota are:
Jason Bohl, Garretson High School in the sport of girls’ cross country
Tom Culver, Avon High School in the sport of football
Mark Stadem, Brandon Valley High School in the sport of girls’ basketball
Scott Schultz, Bridgewater-Emery High School in the sport of boys’ basketball
Kari Jung, Warner High School in the sport of volleyball
Dan Mitchell, Yankton High School assistant in boys’ sports
Kerry Beyer, Rapid City Stevens High School assistant in girls’ sports
Cal Corey of Sturgis and Connie Nyhaug of Viborg will be inducted into the NHSACA Hall of Fame at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Lincoln, NE.
