Johannsen and Larson cap seasons with championships

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) – Sloan Johannsen would cap off an undefeated year with the 113-pound championship Friday at the Class A Wrestling Meet at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls.
Johannsen won by a 3-2 decision over Vermillion’s Hayden Schroeder to cap off a 47-0 season for the sophomore.
10 of the 11 Arrows would place to give Watertown a team score of 155.5, good for third place. Brandon Valley claimed the A team title with a 252.
Braden Lee placed fourth in the 120, Weston Everson took home 6th place in the 131, Carson Hansmann placed fourth in the 138, Ian Johnson took home third in the 152, Jax Ketwig placed 5th in the 160, Mac Young 5th in the 182, Brock Eiteim 6th in the 195, Draven Bau 4th in the 220, and Michah Hach 3rd in the 285.
At the Class B Tournament, Webster’s Cael Larson would claim the 138-pound title with a 7-0 decision over Chase Varilek of Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes to finish his senior season with a 47-2 record.
The Bearcats would finish in 12th place as a team with a score of 47. Canton would claim the B team crown with a score of 155.5
The combined girls team crown was claimed by Pierre with a score of 146.
At the Class A Dual Meet on Saturday, Watertown would defeat Tea in the opening contest 54-22 but fall to Rapid City Stevens in the semifinals 43-25. Brandon Valley defeated Rapid City Stevens 32-25 win in the Class A Duals Championship
In the Class B Duals, Kingsbury County would lose their opening contest to Parkston by two, 42-40. Winner won the B Team Duals state championship with a 33-25 win over Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes.
