VERMILLION, S.D. (GoJacks.com) — The South Dakota State women’s volleyball team fell to in-state rival  South Dakota in straight sets (22-25, 17-25, 11-25) on Tuesday evening in Vermillion.

The Jackrabbits fell to 6-19 overall and 3-10 in Summit League action, while the Coyotes improved to 24-1 with a perfect 13-0 Summit League mark.

Makenzie Hennen and Crystal Burk led the Jacks offense with 10 kills each, while Burk added 13 digs to complete her sixth double-double this season. Madison Fay posted 15 assists and Carly Wedel tallied 11 assists. Defensively, Tatum Pickar recorded 11 digs and Anna Nerad led the Jacks with 4 blocks.

Directing the offense for the Coyotes was sophomore setter Madison Jurgens, who contributed a three set career-high 45 assists to go over the 1,000 assist mark on the season. The Odell, Nebraska, native, also chipped in 13 digs, one of three in double figures defensively for USD.

The Jackrabbits will travel to Grand Forks, N.D. on Sunday to take on North Dakota. First serve is set for 1 p.m.  The Coyotes close out their home portion of the regular season on Friday for Senior Day against North Dakota State. A win would give them the outright Summit League regular season title.
