BROOKINGS, S.D. (GoJacks.com) — The South State women’s volleyball team was edged by Purdue Fort Wayne, 3-2 (23-25, 25-19, 17-25, 25-22, 12-15), in a five-set thriller on Friday evening at Frost Arena.

The Jackrabbits fell to 5-14 overall and 2-5 in Summit League action. Purdue Fort Wayne improved to 12-9 overall and 6-1 in Summit League matches, good for second in the conference standings.

Crystal Burk recorded her second straight double-double, fifth on the season, with 18 kill and 14 digs. Additionally, Makenzie Hennen, Ashlynn Smith and Madison Fay each registered double-doubles. Hennen and Smith posted 14 and 12 kills, respectively. Madison Fay supported the offense with 26 assists and Carly Wedel added 18 assists.

Defensively, Tatum Pickar recorded a total of 23 digs, while Nerad led the team with five blocks. Tori Thompson and Wedel each added three blocks.

South Dakota State will travel to take on Omaha on Monday. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at Baxter Arena.
