MACOMB, Ill. (GoJacks.com) — The South Dakota State women’s volleyball team fell to Western Illinois in straight sets (21-25, 20-25, 23-25) on Sunday.

The Jackrabbits fell to 5-17 overall with a 2-8 mark in Summit League matches. Western Illinois improved to 6-17, 3-7 Summit League.

Ashlynn Smith, Crystal Burk and Tori Thompson each recorded seven kills for the Jacks. Makenzie Hennen added five kills and a team-leading 16 digs. Carly Wedel and Madison Fay aided the offense with 16 and 10 assists, respectively. Tatum Pickar registered 13 digs on the match. Thompson had a team-best five blocks, while Burk added 3 blocks and 10 digs to the defensive efforts.

The Jackrabbits return home to take on Denver on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by Oral Roberts on Sunday at 1 p.m.
