Jackrabbit men share title; earn No. 2 seed

SIOUX FALLS (GoJacks.com) — South Dakota State men’s basketball claimed a share of its sixth Summit League regular season crown and earned the No. 2 seed in the 2020 Summit League Championships in Sioux Falls, March 7-10. The Jackrabbits will take on No. 7 seed Purdue Fort Wayne Saturday at 8:30 p.m. from the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
SDSU finished the regular season 22-9 overall and 13-3 in league play and swept the season series with Purdue Fort Wayne. The Jackrabbits topped the Mastodons on the road in January, 70-61, before a Feb. 16 victory at home, 75-64.
The winner of Saturday’s game will face either No. 3 seed South Dakota or No. 6 seed North Dakota in Monday’s 8:30 p.m. semifinal. Top-seeded North Dakota State and No. 8 seed Denver face off Saturday at 6 p.m., and the other Sunday quarterfinal pits fourth-seeded Oral Roberts against fifth-seeded Omaha. All quarterfinal and semifinal games air on MidcoSN with an ESPN+ simulcast.
Tuesday’s championship game is set for 8 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPN2.
South Dakota State is 20-6 all-time at the Summit League Tournament and have five tournament titles. The Jacks have been seeded second twice before, earning trips to the NCAA Tournament both of those years (2012 and 2016). SDSU and NDSU are the only teams to win titles in the last eight years.
