It’s Election Day!

WATERTOWN, S.D.–This is a very important day across the country.

It’s Election Day, and in South Dakota there’s plenty to talk about.

A governor’s race, legislative races, and ballot questions on marijuana and Medicaid expansion lead the way. The governor’s race is particularly interesting as Republican Governor Kristi Noem faces a challenge from state lawmaker Jamie Smith.

Polls have shown Noem in the lead, but the race is tight and could be determined by which candidate does a better job of turning out the vote.

Speaking of turnout, Secretary of State Steve Barnett expects voter turnout in South Dakota to be between 65 and 70 percent today.

Polls are open until 7 tonight. After that, you can hear election numbers as the results come in on each of our six Watertown Radio stations.
