PIERRE, S.D.–South Dakota’s legislators return to the Capitol today (Tuesday) after the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday with a full committee and floor action docket.
Today is Legislative Day 5 of 38 scheduled days.
It is also the deadline for Gov. Kristi Noem to file executive orders.
In committee action, the Senate Judiciary Committee will consider a bill that would toughen the state’s DUI laws.
The House Health and Human Services Committee takes up two bills where South Dakota would join multi-state compacts to expand who can practice as an advanced practice registered nurse or counselor in the state.
The Joint Appropriations Committee at 9 a.m. and throughout the day is scheduled to consider the Department of Social Service’s budget.
The House is scheduled to consider two bills that notify medical cannabis users that they could be relinquishing their gun rights if they have a medical marijuana card.
