WATERTOWN, S.D.—Is marijuana a gateway to using more dangerous, illegal drugs?

That question is being debated as South Dakotans vote in the midterms on Initiated Measure 27, which if approved, would legalize recreational marijuana use in the state.

Matt Schweich is with “South Dakotans For Better Marijuana Laws.” Here’s how he answered that question during an interview with KWAT News….

Schweich says if people use marijuana, it should be done safely….

Schweich says opponents of IM 27 have been misleading voters with their ads that use the word, “drugs,” but never mention the word “marijuana.”

An opposition group to IM 27 called, “Protecting South Dakota Kids” recently announced they’d raised close to a half-million dollars to promote a “no” vote on the marijuana question.
