Huron set to host state soccer

HURON, S.D. (KOKK-AM) — The Huron School District will host the state soccer finals for the first time on Saturday at Tiger Stadium.

Girls and boys champions will be crowned in Class A and AA. Huron Activities Director Terry Rotert says hosting state soccer was part of the district master plan when turf was installed at Tiger Stadium in 2016

Rotert says hosting an event for the first time takes some extra effort

State soccer is the first of three state events Huron will host this school year. Class B volleyball will return to the Arena next Month, and Class B girls basketball is returning next March.

The schedule for Saturday is Class A girls at 11, top seed West Central and two seed Tea, followed by Class A boys, top seed SF Christian and two seed Tea. AA Girls is at 5, four seed Brandon Valley and seven seed Sioux Falls Roosevelt, followed by the boys final, top seed Rapid City Stevens and seven seed OGorman.
