Huge turnout expected for funeral of fallen Moody County deputy
February 9, 2024
MADISON, S.D.–About 2,000 people are expected to attend today’s 1 p.m. funeral in Madison for Moody County Deputy Sheriff Ken Prorok, who was killed in the line of duty last week.
It’s a number so big, that the funeral has been moved to the Dakota State University Fieldhouse.
About half that crowd is expected to be law enforcement officers from all over the region, and some from as far as New York City.
The 51 year-old Prorok was laying spike strips across a highway near Madison when the fleeing suspect allegedly swerved and ran him over.
The suspect is charged with Premeditated First Degree Murder and Aggravated Eluding, and is scheduled to make his next court appearance tomorrow.
