WATERTOWN, S.D.–It looks like details on what a new Watertown ice arena will look like, and how it’ll be paid for will be unveiled soon at a special city council meeting.

Ice Arena Committee Chairman and City Councilman Ried Holien…

Why make the announcement at a special council meeting???

Holien says they don’t want to cut corners on this project…

A site for the new arena has not been publicly announced, although Holien says the Watertown Mall property is no longer under consideration.

A new two-sheet ice arena is estimated to cost at least $15 million.

First PREMIER Bank and PREMIER Bankcard have pledged a million dollars toward the project.

The Watertown Hockey Association and Watertown Figure Skate Club have also pledged a combined $2.75 million in cash and in-kind donations.
