WATERTOWN, S.D.–Growing frustration over the lack of progress on a new ice arena in Watertown was expressed by one city councilman Monday night.

Ward A Councilman Ried Holien says there are constituents frustrated by hearing talk of a new City Hall, a new downtown park and a new airport terminal all moving forward, while the ice arena issue languishes.

He says it’s time to make some hard decisions on exactly what type of arena should be built, and how it should be paid for….

The ice talk was generated by an entirely separate issue–a contract with an architectual firm to renovate the Wells Fargo Bank building downtown, which would become the new City Hall.

A vote on that design contract was postponed for two weeks.
