WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown’s new Foundation Plaza is sure to be a busy place this holiday weekend.
The new downtown park along Kemp Avenue officially opened Thursday with a ribbon cutting.
When the city council approved the project, they did so with the understanding that an outdoor skating rink could be added to the park at a later date.
Mayor Ried Holien thinks that will happen…eventually….
Groundbreaking on Foundation Plaza was held on May 2nd of last year, meaning the $2.5 million project took exactly 12 months from start to finish.
The park includes a stage, splash pads, playground equipment and shaded seating areas where people can enjoy lunch.
