WATERTOWN, S.D.–A powerful, fast-moving storm system will bring strong winds, rain, snow and potentially hail and tornadoes to parts of central and northern Iowa, northeast Nebraska and southern Minnesota late this afternoon into tonight.

South Dakota will be on the northeast edge of the severe weather, and could see thunderstorms and powerful winds.

KWAT News Director Mike Tanner talked with Scott Doering, a forecaster at the National Weather Service office in Aberdeen.

Doering says Minnesota has never had a confirmed tornado in December, nor has the Sioux Falls office of the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in December, but both could happen today.
