BROOKINGS, S.D.–The South Dakota Highway Patrol says strong winds caused a semi-truck and trailer to overturn on Interstate 29 Thursday morning.

It happened just after 10:00 a.m. at mile marker 140, eight miles north of Brookings.

The semi, pulling an empty trailer, was northbound when high winds blew the truck over.

The 28 year-old driver was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. His name was not released.

The northbound lanes of the Interstate were closed for about three hours and traffic was diverted at the mile marker 140 exit.
