Hennepin County sheriff injured in rollover; alcohol use suspected

ALEXANDRIA, Minn. – The sheriff of Hennepin County, Minnesota suffered serious but non-critical injuries when he rolled a county-owned SUV on I-94 east of Alexandria early Wed. morning.
The state patrol says Douglas County deputies who responded to the scene believed that Sheriff David Hutchinson had been drinking. He was taken to the hospital in Alexandria where a urine sample was taken.
Hutchinson released a statement apologizing and said as the top law enforcement officer in Hennepin County, he’s held to a higher standard. He said he plans to seek treatment for his issues with alcohol.
The rollover was reported at 2:33 a.m.
