MITCHELL, S.D.–A Detroit man who was charged in the death of a woman in Mitchell last month appeared in court on Tuesday for an advisory hearing.

Sixty year-old Anthony Harris is facing one count of Second-Degree Murder and one count of Improper Disposal of a Body.

According to court documents, the partially dismembered remains of 57-year-old Melody Gooch (pictured) of Detroit were discovered in the I-90 Travel Center parking lot in Mitchell shortly before 11 p.m. on March 11th.

Surveillance video and electronic records led authorities to Harris, who drove a semi-truck and trailer to Yakima, Washington, and was contacted by authorities on March 14th.

He was extradited to South Dakota late last week and is being held in the Davison County Jail on a $250,000 cash bond. A preliminary hearing is set for April 15th in Mitchell.
