Hanten named Codington County Emergency Manager on interim basis

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Codington County Commission Chairwoman Brenda Hanten is the interim county emergency manager.

That’s following action taken by the board at their Tuesday meeting.

The county is on the hunt for a new emergency manager following the recent resignation of Jamie Torstenson.

Hanten says more than 40 applicants have expressed interest in the job, many of them from out of state. The application deadline is 5:00 p.m. today. 

She says phone interviews with the candidates will begin next week, and then in-person interviews will be conducted with a shorter list of finalists.

Hanten will hold the job on an interim basis until a permanent hire is made.
