Hamlin takes Winner to five sets

WATERTOWN, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — It took five sets but the Hamlin Chargers came back to defeat the Winner Warriors 3-2 in the opening round of the Class A tournament at the Watertown Civic Arena. Set scores 14-25, 25-17, 15-25, 25-18, 15-11.
At the serving line Ally Abraham would lead the way with four aces and Grace Everson would add 3. On the attack Ally Abraham would lead the charge with 15 kills, her sister Ashtyn Abraham along with Mckenna Prouty would each tally nine. Defensively, Ashtyn Abraham would lead the charge with 31 digs, Kami Wadsworth with 19, Taylor Koisti and Zoe Ruotsalainen each with 18.
In other action at the A saw the one seed Sioux Falls Christian take care of business against the eighth seed Madison 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-21). There were two upsets in the night session as the six seed Dakota Valley downed the three seed Rapid City Christian 3-1 (21-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-9) and the seven seed Parker defeated the two seed Hill City 3-1 (25-21, 25-18, 18-25, 26-24).
Hamlin will face Sioux Falls Christian to begin the championship semifinals at 5 p.m. tonight. Brent Nathaniel will have coverage on New Country KS93 and GoWatertown.net/NewCountryKS93. The other night session game will see Dakota Valley face Parker. The consolation semifinals today will begin at noon with Madison facing Winner and the 2 p.m. game will see Rapid City Christian taking on Hill City.
