Group drops lawsuit over South Dakota’s Amendment G

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.–The Life Defense Fund has withdrawn its lawsuit against its opponent after a constitutional amendment to expand abortion access in South Dakota was shut down by voters.
Life Defense Fund co-chair Jon Hansen confirmed the group has decided to drop their lawsuit.
Amendment G would have restored abortion access in South Dakota. The proposed constitutional amendment would have legalized abortion in the first trimester without state regulation.
Life Defense Fund contended that Amendment G’s sponsor, Dakotans for Health, violated state laws with improper petition circulation and that the amendment shouldn’t have been certified.
