Grocery tax question will appear on South Dakota ballot in November

PIERRE, S.D. — A petition submitted for an initiated measure prohibiting taxes on anything sold for human consumption was validated and filed on Monday.

Secretary of State Monae Johnson made the announcement on Monday.

The title for the ballot question will be Initiated Measure 28, and it will appear on the 2024 General Election ballot in November.

An initiated measure currently requires 17,508 valid signatures in order to appear on the ballot.
