PIERRE, S.D.–South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem delivered the annual State of the State Address to the Legislature Tuesday afternoon as the 2023 session got underway.

Governor Noem says the state’s revenues are also strong, with a surplus of $423 million. She says December revenues were another $10 million above estimates. Noem wants to use some of the money to eliminate the state’s 4.5% state sales tax on groceries…

The main run of this year’s nine week legislative session ends March 6th, with March 27th set aside as the date to deal with any gubernatorial vetoes.
